Christmas list.

That last post got me thinking about other things Elliot needs in case anyone needs a gift idea.

Big warm clothes
Diaper covers (Size large. Elliot's about 22 pounds and has enormous thighs, so a size that fits 22 pounds+ would be good.) This is a good site: http://www.zoombabygear.com/, and if you don't want to pay shipping you can put in a code for a pickup since it's local to me.
G-diaper Starter pack (http://www.gdiapers.com/, size large), we'll probably need additional covers too.

Need present ideas for me? See above. Really! It's like buying doll clothes for a little girl. :)
I know, I know. WAY overdue. But guess what else is-a moment of free time to do it in! :P

Lots of excitement over here. We are having a big snow storm. Elliot, Ben and I walked to McMennamin's for lunch a few days ago which was Elliot's first adventure in the snow. For those of you who don't know, snow happens once a year in Portland, but never this early and never this long. I have been waiting for a White Christmas since I was a kid and never got one. Looks like little Elliot might be a good luck charm because we might have one this year!

Elliot is eating food now. At first he wasn't that interested because he didn't know what the deal was, but now that he's mastered a few different foods he loves eating. He has even figured out that if you open your mouth while other people are eating chances are something will end up in there. It's so cute.

He's ALMOST crawling. He's got the backward crawl down and scoots under chairs and other things and gets stuck. He has figured out a functional forward movement but doesn't remember to do that when he gets stuck after some backward crawling. He gets up on all fours and lunges forward. It works, but it could use some refinement.

Also-in case someone wants to buy him a Christmas present (I know it's probably too late), Elliot needs some warm clothes. He already has a coat, but needs more warm pants and long sleeved shirts and maybe some warm footy things. He wears 9-12 month clothes, but is more on the 12 month side now.

On to the pictures!! (Another reminder that you can click the pictures to see a bigger view-important for pictures with teeth!)

He was pushing it into his face really hard. It was hilarious, aparently it wasn't feeding him fast enough!

Oh, by the way-Elliot is a super genius and was entertaining us with some Moonlight Sonata.

Eating some green stuff. As you know, Ben and I are big hippies at heart, and we make our own babyfood (so far by "we" I mean "me", but his heart is in it). And if you've ever wondered why Elliot's butt looks so big, it's the cloth diapers. It was funny, my sister in law and nephew both thought Elliot had a super-full diaper the other night until I reminded them that it was cloth. Yay super-butt!

This picture is very important. Not only is it super cute, but it also shows that he's mastered the "pincer grasp" which is a developmental milestone for 9 month old babies. I told you have was a super genius!

I know it has been a long time, but I have not had time to update since school started. Needless to say, life is BUSY. So busy. I can't even explain how crazy this feels. So, sorry for the lack of updates.

Now, on to the big news.
Teeth.
That's right, not one, but two teeth popped up about a week ago. He now has little tiny chompers. They've been very difficult to photograph, but I have tried my best to get a couple pictures of them.

He had his first taste of cereal (even though we won't be officially starting him on solids until he's 6 months old) but as you can see he pretty much thinks cereal is food in the same way he thinks his bib is food. Just wait Elliot, you have no idea what you're missing!! I'm sure breastmilk is good, but it's not CHOCOLATE good.

I just love this one. Look at that tiny buttcrack! So cute!!

OK-I swear it's not as bad as it looks. He's actually trying to squirm around so he can eat my fingers. This was such a hard shot to take, and I was hoping I'd get a less weird picture, but I couldn't. So here's the head grabbing pic of :

He was a mouse for Halloween. We didn't really do anything for Halloween, so Ben and I didn't dress up. Instead we got candy and waited for trick-or-treaters. We only got about 6. Two of them were a couple of crackhead ladies in their like late 40's with no children with them. I still gave them candy because my tactic with crackheads is to not get noticed. If they don't remember my house being the house that yelled at them for obviously ripping people off with their little UNICEF boxes, all the better. Just take the candy and be on your way.

We even lit candles for the trick-or-treaters.

Elliot would like to take a moment and ask for your support in electing Barack Obama as our next president. If not for you, then for him.

GOOD TIMING!! Elliot's awake. Gotta go. Talk to you after finals.

BABY!!!

Elliot is now 4 months old. He's a great baby. I'm so glad we're over that colicky newborn stuff. However, it makes it even harder for me to leave him when I go back to school on Monday.
AND, he's not very good birth control for my friends. :)
At his 4 month checkup he was weighed and measured, and once again he's off the charts. I think they need a new chart for giant babies.
He's 19 pounds, 5 ounces and 27 inches long. Which means we have to get a new carseat. Yay child-rearing expenses!!!

Oh well. You can't expect to get moments like these for free:

Rolling over and spitting up do not make a very good combination. It is, however, quite hilarious. Especially with that innocent look on his face!

First Camping Trip

Elliot had his first camping trip this past weekend. We went for one night. It went pretty well. We went with our friends Nikky and Jason, and they thought that Elliot was pretty well behaved-awesome!!

We went to the Klickitat river and even though the site was COMPLETELY packed (despite it being past Labor day and despite the fact that we'd never seen this place packed) we still got a nice spot right on the river.

Right now, Elliot is a joy to be around. He smiles and babbles (we call it quacking) all day long. He's still a super wiggly baby, and we think he might be an early walker. When we were camping I was trying to shoo flies out of out tent. I grabbed a shirt and was whacking the flies on the ceiling. For some reason Elliot thought that was hilarious and burst out laughing. He laughed harder the more I did it-so of course I did it for like 10 minutes straight. It was so funny. We were both laughing so hard. He laughs when you tickle him, but this was the first time he laughed at something in his environment.

I keep telling people that his laughs and smiles are like heroin. Once you experience it you spend all day long trying to get more. (Not that I know what heroin is like, but you get the picture).
